Paraiso De Rocas Antiguas
Arroyo Craftsman ADU
Paraiso De Rocas Antiguas ADU blends modern luxury with environmental sensitivity, integrating seamlessly into the historic character of its neighborhood. This all-electric ADU, perched beneath a 100 year old Live Oak, was designed with a holistic vision from foundation to furnishings to reduce environmental impact and enhance daily living.
Twin curving stone walls, built from arroyo river rock, echo the property’s original 1927 Craftsman home and the neighborhood’s iconic masonry. Contemporary wooden forms sit lightly atop, housing bright, open living spaces with uninterrupted indoor-outdoor flow. Natural cooling, solar panels, LED lighting, and energy-efficient heat pumps support energy independence.
Inside, wellness and sustainability are prioritized through VOC free finishes, Paperstone countertops, and locally made tiles. At Home Front Build, our design/build process is deeply collaborative and rooted in environmental stewardship transforming visionary ideas into meaningful, lasting spaces.
Sustainable Features
All-Electric Living: Eliminates fossil fuels with electric appliances and systems.
Renewable Energy: Solar panels, energy-efficient heat pumps, and LED lighting minimize demand.
Water Conservation: Drip irrigation, gray water systems, and rain sensors support a low-impact landscape.
Sustainable Materials: Paperstone countertops, VOC-free finishes, and coral-inspired tile fired in electric kilns.
Long-Term Efficiency: Natural cooling design lowers operational costs and shortens solar ROI.
Interior Design
Wellness and sustainability inform every design choice. Natural plaster walls, VOC-free finishes, and north-facing windows support health and comfort. Custom furniture crafted by local artisans from salvaged urban trees and hemp textiles connect the home to nature while minimizing environmental impact. Together, these details create a space that feels warm, breathable, and deeply grounded.
Landscape & Site
The ADU is surrounded by stacked stone terraces planted with fruit trees and California natives, which create privacy while restoring the local ecosystem. Efficient irrigation and runoff diversion systems reduce water waste and support a regenerative landscape strategy. Built into the hillside, the design enhances natural beauty while protecting the land.
“Our goal was to honor the century old Craftsman home and surrounding landscape while bringing a modern, sustainable vision to life. Every material and design choice reflects wellness, comfort, and a deep respect for the environment.”
